Who is the Greatest.....??

Sitting one day with the exam fever,a thought crossed my mind about who will be getting the best score the next day after the exam.God helped to mirror my thoughts and have a look at my attitude. My attitude was selfish.I wanted to know if I would be ranked the highest. But the Holy Spirit guided me to bring it to Jesus. How did Jesus deal with with an attitude like that?
The scripture passage where the disciples ask Jesus:'Who is the greatest in the Kingdom of heaven?'from Matthew 18:1 came to my mind.Yes that was my question as well.
What did Jesus say to that?He said "except ye be converted and become as little children ye shall not enter into the Kingdom of heaven.Whosoever shall humble himself as THIS little child, the same is the greatest in the Kingdom of heaven"
"What does that mean?",I asked God.Whats there in children?Innocence?Blind faith?Humility? How does this verse imply in my life Lord?
Jesus showed me something so amazing in that verse. The verse says,"Whosoever shall humble himself as THIS little child, the same is the greatest in the Kingdom of heaven".Notice carefully that it is specifically mentioned "this child".God drew my attention to that little part.
Why was this child there and how did he attract Jesus's attention? The verse 2 says "Jesus called a little child unto Him,and set him in the midst of them".
The disciples and the child were there with Jesus at that time to learn from Jesus. They had all been following Jesus all the way just to listen to what the Master has to say.But the disciples were more concerned about who was the most honored among
them. The child however, stood in the crowd unnoticed by anyone at all.All he knew was that he was there for a purpose and that was to receive from God.God knew his attitude. That drew God's attention towards the boy.And Jesus called the boy to Him and "set him in the MIDST of them".'THEM'refers to those disciples who wanted to know their positions.Jesus did not call anyone of them to Him.Jesus did not set any of them as an example. But Jesus called this little unnoticed child and made him noticeable to everyone. When Jesus lifted him up,the eyes of all the people there fell on him.
The boy was insignificant till the moment Jesus called him out.But after Jesus called him,He became a exemplar of a pure heart.
Through this God taught me that we can try as hard as we want to reach up higher than everyone else and show how significant we are in the crowd. But that is equal to a big zero before God.God does not value that.He does not value anything the world considers to be the best.He values us because of the blood Jesus gave on the cross for us.
It is God who lifts up one and puts down another(Ps 75:7).What should be more important to us is not how much the world considers us worthy. It should be whether we are worthy before the Holy God.Are you valued in His eyes?We need not overestimate or underestimate ourselves when we know for sure what we are in the eyes of our Father. We are PRECIOUS eternally!and thats all that counts in the end!
Amen!God is toooooo good!
Stay blessed!
