Friend of God..or a Fan?

Are You a Fan of God?or a Friend of His?
It doesn't make a difference some may say.In both cases,you worship the hero,dance n sing for him/her,love him/her like crazy,shout his/her name in joy,wait to just get a glimpse of him/her for real..These are just a few of things we do for the big shot.However,there is a small but significant difference between the two which is where many of us go wrong when it comes to a relationship with God.
Celebrity names have become so common in the many of our households now.Their personal lives have been laid before us through numerous interviews,articles,magazines etc.Fans talk about them like they belong to the family of the star...as though they are close friends.There are people caught up emotionally in the marriage problems of their families.I've heard of fans in India who have built temples for their celeb!!From a far distance,they discuss how their 'hero' could have changed situations in his personal life.They see the what,where and when but they do not see the why.There are people who can tell about a celeb's life more than they can about their own life!If these fans met their celebrity hero on the street,they might not even receive a nod of acknowledgement.This is a one way relationship.Sad..!!=(
This kind of knowledge about someone does not guarantee intimacy with them.This knowledge is like watching their lives through a glass window.This is where a friend is different from a fan.When I call a person my 'friend',it means,it is she/he with whom I share my most intimate details with.That person knows the secrets of my heart.She/He knows what exactly is on my heart.Not just that she/he knows what is on my heart but they also know the "why".Remember when God revealed Himself as "Jehovah-Jireh" to Abraham(Genesis 22:13,14).Now,the Lord was revealing to Abraham the things that to other men were yet"secrets" of His Heart.Abraham knew the "why" of God's command to Him simply because God revealed it to Him.God is Spirit and His ways are hidden from the wisdom of this natural world.(John 4:24,I Corinthians 2:6-10)It is impossible to know God merely by observing things of the natural world.That would be like knowing a celeb from the media.God will reveal Himself to only those who fear(have reverence for) Him.God called Abraham His "friend".When can You become His friend?When You obey Him-John 15:14;"You are My friends if you keep on doing the things which I command you to do."
Psalms 25:14 says"The secret [of the sweet, satisfying companionship] of the Lord have they who fear (revere and worship) Him, and He will show them His covenant and reveal to them its [deep, inner] meaning."(AMP)
Does God share His heart with You?
I Corinthians 2:7-10-"But rather what we are setting forth is a wisdom of God once hidden [from the human understanding] and now revealed to us by God--[that wisdom] which God devised and decreed before the ages for our glorification [to lift us into the glory of His presence].None of the rulers of this age or world perceived and recognized and understood this, for if they had, they would never have crucified the Lord of glory.
But, on the contrary, as the Scripture says, What eye has not seen and ear has not heard and has not entered into the heart of man, [all that] God has prepared (made and keeps ready) for those who love Him [[b]who hold Him in affectionate reverence, promptly obeying Him and gratefully recognizing the benefits He has bestowed].(A)
Yet to us God has unveiled and revealed them by and through His Spirit, for the [Holy] Spirit searches diligently, exploring and examining everything, even sounding the profound and bottomless things of God [the [c]divine counsels and things hidden and beyond man's scrutiny]."
God wants to reveal His heart to you!!To be your Friend?Are You willing to obey?
