Give your Daddy a hug!
Have you ever really thought about what is worship?and Why worship?
what is it really that draws you to worship Him?
many years into the Christian "religious"faith can lead you to think this way and maybe not everyday but at times we all end up thinking this way. What is worship? Is it always like we sing.."its all about you,Jesus!!"..or is it about songs n lyrics?good music?the peace?or is it on your "christian" checklist? If you ask people why they go to church on Sundays, most "christian"people say-"oh Im here to worship God"..
worship is understood by many people in many different ways.To some its duty.To others it is sacrifice. To some others it is commandment. What is it to children of God?How can worship be a part of the Father-son relationship God has established?Worship has to got to be more than the just the "worship service"..
its a wide topic to comment on,but I just wanna share something real simple, that helps me..
Worship-to keep it simple is "responding to God and His story"..it is a lifestyle..in Greek the word means proskuneo , which means literally “to bow down,” or “to prostrate oneself.” The word worship means “to bow down” or, more literally, “to humble oneself” or “to give honor to another person.” or simply to say “to give honor and to give respect, to give deference to a person you consider to be higher in rank than you are.”
Im sure we all know this. The struggling bit is when it has be move from beyond words to action.Let this be an encouragement to remind ourselves to love Him back.
Firstly,to respond to God,we should have a revelation of who He is and What He has done. How can we have this?or who can have this?Who does God reveal Himself to?or who has God chosen to reveal Himself to?to understand this, lets read from
Ephesians (2:1-3) And you were dead in the trespasses and sins in which you once walked, following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience – among whom we all once lived in the passions of our flesh, carrying out the desires of the body and the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, like the rest of mankind .
Paul wants us to know the depth of the pit where they have fallen. “And you were dead in the trespasses and sins in which you once walked” (2:1-2). They were dead men walking. To be “dead” is to be incapable of responding to God in a positive way. We do not have the ability to please God (Rom. 8:7-8). That is the meaning of being dead. Have you tried talking to a dead person? Have you tried giving flowers to a dead person? How did he respond? He did not respond at all. That’s how we were apart from Christ. We were dead.We were “the sons of disobedience”, “following the prince of the power of the air”,“once lived in the passions of our flesh.” Our “deadness” resulted in us being “by nature children of wrath.”
The next time you watched a TV and saw a murderer, or robber, or rapist, or corrupt politicians in the news, say to yourself, “It was like me before I knew Christ; or, It could have been me if I had not experienced his gracious work in my life.”
We had a miserable past because we were sinners by nature. But now is totally different. We have riches because of our new life in Christ. It is not enough to see who you were before, you need to see who you are now.
in verse 5,Paul has highlighted God’s richness in mercy, great love and to show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness stating the fact that God made us alive “even when we were dead in our trespasses.”
Eph 2 vs 4-7:But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, 5even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ – by grace you have been saved – 6and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, 7so that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus .
He “made us alive together with Christ.” He “raised us up with him.” We are no longer “dead.” He rescued us from this miserable state by giving us life.We were dead before, now we are alive. We were following the ways of the world and were disobedient before, now we are raised up to new life of obedience to and faith in God. We were under Satan’s dominion before, now we are now under the rule of Christ, and are co-rulers with him. Before God’s wrath is upon us, now we are recipients of his mercy, love, grace, and kindness.
THEREFORE,WE NOW CAN "RESPOND" TO HIM.
Imagine you owe a man millions and You have not paid.He has every right to send you to prison.Surprisingly one day He tells you “Forget the debts. Someone paid for it. And besides, here is a check worth one million.” How will you respond? In deep gratitude, right? Worship is knowing, acknowledging this GRACE of God,His mercy and kindness..The Father's heart of LOVE,with all you have and with all you are,in thankfulness, honor and praise for what He has done in your life through Jesus! He is worthy of your praise and Honor! Its not your works, not who you are.Its His work and What He alone has done.
Obedience is worship.Adoring His creation is worship.Doing anything you do as to Him and not to men is worship.Appreciating how He created you and the talents He has put in you in also worship.Loving the person next to you when its hard is worship.Being meek is worship.Listening to Him is worship.Sometimes a smile in the hard times is worship.Forsaking your comfort for somebody in need is also worship. The key is to ACKNOWLEDGE HIM IN EVERYTHING,YOUR WORK,STUDIES,RELATIONSHIPS,EVEN LITTLE THINGS OF EVERYDAY LIFE..This is reciprocating LOVE.its more just words..
Go on!Give Your Daddy some real love!!make Him smile:)
be blessed!!
