in Jesus, I see Hope

Image
Anger, shame, pain, guilt, anxiety drives me sometimes to a desert of hard heartedness, a place where it is untouchable, unreachable, and non submissive to anything but myself. There is so much going on around us right now.  Let me just say that again... There is just so much going on around us right now, in families, in countries, sickness, uncertainty, betrayel, injustice and every kind of evil. When you pay close attention to these things, it is so easy to let hope slip by.  Hope through an eternal perspective changes everything. He is a Reason of our faith, our Risen Saviour, and because He lives, there is 'calm reassurance that we can face these uncertain days'.He is our answer.  The thing about Jesus is, he provides in the lack, he calms in the storm, he heals in the death.. You see this? He is right in the middle of all the Chaos, and He gives Hope, He gives undying strength everyday, He shepherds our Soul because He knows how easily our 'hoarded resour...

The Motorbike story of a Toddler

Image
After 2,5 years of delivering the greatest Treasure in my Life, I can safely say I am catching up with Toddler-Rate-of-Growth very well. I need to put  this out there before he crosses over in 4 months into being a Preschooler. I rejoice in his growth. I rejoice seeing what he learns each day. How much Life & Insight he has brought into our lives. Most parents say they have learnt patience after their child arrived. I've learnt to appreciate Life, to be gentle, to Love unconditionally, to give, to listen, to be grateful for the laundry baskets, for the dishes or even for my hectic job. I've learnt to be thankful for these Blessed Loans from the Almighty every single day. Parenting is an honour. Just something I learnt from Z recently, after I winced inside at first was about Love. I've tried to be nice to people and believed that to be Love. I've prayed for God to give me His kind of Love in my heart because honestly I don't find it easy to look beyond my...

Being Mommy

Image
One of the first advice we received on becoming new parents to our beautiful child, as we reveled in the exuberant joy this boy brought was : 'Yes he is a huge blessing, but never take this for granted'. I sit here today 15 months after the birth of my first born, who we named Zachary because 'God has remembered' us in His goodness and enriched our lives for the best. As a new mother, I found myself in this new world that revolved around another human being(and still does) .I confess to have taken the words of other parents too lightly about my life taking a 180 degree turn. I didn't think my peaceful nights, quiet lunches, the 'me-time' including showers, dolling up, night outs, travels, dates would practically be non existent and that I would have to deliberately make time and put in extra efforts to make it happen. The good news is, you eventually learn tricks and what works best for you and it all functions in a completely new way. I am much blesse...

In Christ alone.

Coming back to writing after years. Married now,to a wonderful human being.working .New things.New changes.Yet never content. Today, amidst all the busy things happening around me,something fresh ,something I basically ignored for a while now caught my attention. A day off with nothing much to do is a rare happening in my life right now.On most Friday evenings I anxiously wait to see what comes through the Emergency Department door.I'm grateful for today.I'm grateful for tea,for thoughts and for my darling husband with only words of encouragement and a heart that worships God. Humans are enabled to create. We are gifted to paint our lives. We are given a blank canvas as we are born.We grow,we learn. We study. We improvise. We experience and we paint. We imagine how the ideal life should look like. Then we start painting. We progress. We paint to suit our greedy hearts. We paint till we are satisfied. We analyze the incomplete canvas every now and then.We admire perfection. We pur...

Slowly,Steadily yet Surely

Lets just get straight to the point without prefaces: 1.God is real .Yes,coincidences exist. But incidents don't just fit in perfectly like a puzzle, unless there is a Mastermind behind it all. 2. Question everything. The minute you stop questioning, you start building your life on somebody else's beliefs, truths and lies. 3.God is much much more than you can figure out.Just keep going each day.Do not be deceived into thinking you have got it all figured out. Each day, each season I promise you will see more if you desire Him . 4. Pray .It doesn't have to be perfect.Pour your heart out to Him.Converse.Listen.Be silent.Express.Respond. 5.WAIT. wait .WAIT.Yes,God is the only punctual guy around. He is in control but never in a hurry. If He makes you wait, something big is on your way.Really! 6.Make friends .Say Hi more often.Smile more often.Go beyond borders.Share love.Be thankful for the ones you already have. 7.Yes,it may be crazy in the desert . They are the times...

A prayer from the depths..

Image
A few verses that woke my heart today. I find a deep surety David expresses through his words,a deep sense of knowing Who God is,even if everything is not known yet.He clings to the Highest Rock.He knows there is a fountain of unending waters flowing to give Him life and sustain Him....and He prays his heart.. courtesy:Shyju Mathew " I sat there in despair, my spirit draining away,      my heart heavy, like lead. I remembered the old days,      went over all you’ve done, pondered the ways you’ve worked, Stretched out my hands to you,      as thirsty for you as a desert thirsty for rain.   Hurry with your answer, God !      I’m nearly at the end of my rope. Don’t turn away; don’t ignore me!      That would be certain death. If you wake me each morning with the sound of your loving voice,      I’ll go to sleep each night trusting in you. Point out the road...

"It’s in your moment of raw honesty that Jesus rolls up his sleeves and begins to restore you by his grace.  I know that sounds like a churchy thing to say, but God totally understands your struggle.  You can come to him in any condition.  He loves you in your slobbery, ugly, vulnerable, flailing mess.  He welcomes your doubts, frustrations, questions, and confusion.  His mind is already made up about you on the cross. It’s in your exposed humanity that God’s grace really works, and it won’t work any other way.  You don’t have to hide." -J.S.Spark

July 2013. I wait. I stand and face the uncertainty that is rushing towards me.Days are flying by and I wait for answers.I have a thousand promises from God in the passive part of my mind.Yet,what is tangible seems more real than all the promises I cannot see.And there I stand and ask myself..What is really the purpose of my life? Why am I here?Whats my role?In expectation that I will see dramatic changes and miracles,I run to God.But I hear Him seal it on my heart..that He is enough. He is the Great "I AM". So I'm encouraged ever so slightly to keep moving.to not give up.Even when so many other voices and faces tell me to stop this struggle,I have a promise from Him.My heart fails me,but His unfailing voice tells me to hold on.Have seen enough to simply believe Him?Yes.I have.  I realize now that waiting is not a passive action. Its active. Its where all the pruning happens. Its where all the movement of God's Kingdom happens, underneath the surface.Where, the Potte...

The same puzzle

What a friend we have in Jesus.. I have heard this song so many times.. Yeah,I know.. so have you..? Do you have those times in life when you are everything comes down to nothing? I do.a lot many times.Sometimes, the same issue arises over and over again. It may be unforgiveness, sin, hardships, worries of life,hatred,guilt,regrets..etc..getting back at you over and over again... We want the world to revolve around us.We want to control everything that happens around us and to us.In my case,to control what happens in other people's lives too..!We just wish we could plan everything. Then,we hold on to God and try getting Him to work things our way.If that does not work,we sob,we lay around,we get depressed, lose hope or react in anger. When things fall under the category of the 'previously-experienced',or under the "I-know-what-must-be-done",or"been there, done that"..it makes us feel falsely secure. And when we feel that way,we talk to God with all the...

A Psalm for the soul

Image
Psalms 40  1 I waited patiently for the LORD; he turned to me and heard my cry.  2 He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand.  3 He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see and fear the LORD and put their trust in him.  Wait on Him,He is a God who responds to a weary heart.  You will never be astray. You will never be alone.  Compassionate beyond degrees our minds can conceive.  He will hear words you never say. He hears words you mutter in silence and darkness.  He will lift you out of the slimy pit.  It may be dirty, slimy, slippery and muddy.  But He will lift you up with His  mighty hand.  Because Only He can.  He will not just lift you up.  He will set your feet on a firm rock.  He Himself is the strongest Rock.  He places you within Himself ...

Mirror,Mirror on the wall..

last summer, I visited my parents and then as all mallu families(slang for native Keralites)do,went to visit other mallu families,as is custom..*wink-wink* why this story? well, over a warm cup of spiced tea(which I cannot deny was an absolute wake call in my head),a certain concerned lady there found it so hard to believe that it was possible to 'arrange' a man to want me in marriage.why?because I belonged to the 'dark' side of Indian skin 'culture' as i would call it..In order to make it easier to hunt for this "perfect groom",she suggested; a highly qualified job or my birth in a wealthy family alone can be my positives. No matter how much we brawl about God's beauty shining through us in 'christian' conventions, its hard to believe for too many people staying in the Indian cultural 'well' that dark (brown) skin is God-made too!For some unknown reason,a brown child is fed with reasons why her brown skin is not 'good eno...

How to be a great woman...

Image
by Shyju Mathew This post by Evg.Shyju inspired me a lot to think about certain things mentioned here..esp about humilility and guarding our mouths..Hope it blesses your hearts too!!:) This pic is of a dear friend who has left such an enormous impact on my life..One among the few women after God's own heart I've known personally...she has shown me soo much of Jesus..and so much truth..this is for her..:)Thank yOu Kellie for everything! You are tooo beautiful! In 2 Kings 4:8, the King James and a few other versions refer to the woman of Shunem as a “great woman”. I’ve always wondered what made her so deserving of the title: great woman. It could not have been her wealth alone that made her to be known this way. The question here is how can you – as a daughter of the Most High – be known as a great woman as well? During our travels, we’ve come across many bitter women. We even found some people who shut their minds against marriage because of past hurts. I believe ...

Have you ever really thought about what is worship?and Why worship? what is it really that draws you to worship Him? many years into the Christian "religious"faith can lead you to think this way and maybe not everyday but at times we all end up thinking this way. What is worship? Is it always like we sing.."its all about you,Jesus!!"..or is it about songs n lyrics?good music?the peace?or is it on your "christian" checklist? If you ask people why they go to church on Sundays, most "christian"people say-"oh Im here to worship God".. worship is understood by many people in many different ways.To some its duty.To others it is sacrifice. To some others it is commandment. What is it to children of God?How can worship be a part of the Father-son relationship God has established?Worship has to got to be more than the just the "worship service".. its a wide topic to comment on,but I just wanna share something real simple, that helps me...

like Silver..

Image
Malachi 3:3 says: "He will sit as a refiner and purifier of silver." This verse puzzled some women in a Bible study and they wondered what this statement meant about the character and nature of God. One of the women offered to find out the process of refining silver and get back to the group at their next Bible Study That week, the woman called a silversmith and made an appointment to watch him at work. She didn't mention anything about the reason for her interest beyond her curiosity about the process of refining silver. As she watched the silversmith, he held a piece of silver over the fire and let it heat up. He explained that in refining silver, one needed to hold the silver in the middle of the fire where the flames were hottest as to burn away all the impurities. The woman thought about God holding us in such a hot spot; then she thought again about the verse that says: "He sits as a refiner and purifier of silver." She asked the silversmith if i...

“To me, you won,” my Father said. “You rose each time you fell.”

Phillipians 3:10-16(MSG) 10-11I gave up all that inferior stuff so I could know Christ personally, experience his resurrection power, be a partner in his suffering, and go all the way with him to death itself. If there was any way to get in on the resurrection from the dead, I wanted to do it. 12-14I'm not saying that I have this all together, that I have it made. But I am well on my way, reaching out for Christ, who has so wondrously reached out for me. Friends, don't get me wrong: By no means do I count myself an expert in all of this, but I've got my eye on the goal, where God is beckoning us onward—to Jesus. I'm off and running, and I'm not turning back. 15-16So let's keep focused on that goal, those of us who want everything God has for us. If any of you have something else in mind, something less than total commitment, God will clear your blurred vision—you'll see it yet! Now that we're on the right track, let's stay on it. Greatest Love Story Ever told....

Image
Everyonez in the "easter mode"..halleluYah's everywhere..Every heart singing praise to the greatest Lover... To me: --its a story that changed my story forever. --a story that moves into the depth of my spirit as days go by..becoming a reality..more real than anything else around me. --a story my heart celebrates knowing that I'm loved, held precious, completely accepted, though fully undeserved. --a story that reminds me that God looks to my face,to my heart, sees me clean..cuz of the blood that was shed for me. --a story that tells me that God chose to do it.knowing all of me.knowing all my secrets cuz He knew even then and wud have said to Himself,"She will be like me.She will be mine forever" --a story that makes me see that no lover,no love,no stories or fairytales can ever match the power, intensity, passion of This True Lover and His Story. --a story that makes me see a God who is most precious, more than silver, gold or anything I could ask for..He...
